Montségur

Montségur - Ruins and Not So Ruined
Probably the most famous of the "Cathar" castles in the South of France, Montségur was the scene of a prolonged siege and ultimate mass burning of Cathars in the 13th century. The castle stands at the top of a 3,000 foot (1,207 metre) high pog or hill, located in Ariege district of Languedoc in France. The present castle was built after the time of the siege.
